Sport in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, with its wonderful climate, is where pretty much any outdoor sport is played and enjoyed. Locals can be found in the parks and on the beaches enjoying football and baseball as well as frisbee and surfing. It is the mix of sports here that is inspirational. It may come as no surprise to learn that Los Angeles is where skateboarding began, and wind-surfing too. It was also the catalyst for beach volleyball, which has now become an Olympic sport.

There are also many less organised activities, with running and cycling being especially popular. Families can often be seen at the weekends spending time together, having fun and enjoying the whole environment. Visitors can hire bicycles and it is highly recommended for a pleasant way to enjoy a day in LA.

Oddly LA doesn't have an NFL team any more, the last ones being the Raiders and the Rams some 10 years ago. However there is strong representation in both Baseball and Basketball. The LA Dodgers baseball team are reasonably good but they are put into the shadows by the LA Lakers basketball team, a side that have been champions many times with Magic Johnson one of their most popular players of recent times. Los Angeles has a second basketball team in the NBA, the LA Clippers, although the Lakers are far and away the dominant side in the city.
